Cleaning up drawings in AutoCAD often means trimming excess geometry, deleting unwanted objects, and carefully managing boundaries. Doing this manually can be slow and frustrating — especially when your drawing contains hundreds of lines.
Let's start with the built-in XTRIM command. Simply type XTRIM in the command line and press Enter.
Perfect for: Quickly cropping to required extents or layout area.
XTRIM only trims objects that cross the boundary. Any objects that lie completely outside the boundary remain untouched. Deleting these manually, one by one, defeats the purpose of using a fast tool.
❌ Erase Outside Boundary: Watch & Download File From Description
✅ Erase Inside Boundary: Watch & Download File From Description
📋 Load: Use APPLOAD command
▶️ Commands: EOP (Erase Outside) | EIP (Erase Inside)
These tools work not only with rectangles, but with any closed polyline of any shape, making them extremely flexible for real-world drawings.
What used to take minutes of manual selection now happens in seconds.
